One of the most difficult and complex issues while writing a novel is crafting and giving life to its characters.
Ernest Hemingway said that “While writing a novel, a writer should create living people; people not characters. A character is a caricature.”
Based on my personal experience while writing my first novel, “My beloved Buenos Aires” which has 32 characters, main and minor, I would like to discuss with the participants the challenge of shaping the characters maintaining their authenticity and originality without disturbing the plot. Participants will be invited to draft and shape a character of their choice following a plot they have in mind.
